Greetings and welcome! As we prepare to hear and receive God’s good gifts this morning through His Word, we also see that another candle is lit on our Advent Wreath. Unlike the previous two candles, today’s candle is distinctly pink for a reason. Pink is the liturgical color for “joy”—and a reminder that we get to rejoice that Christ is coming again to judge the world. For Christians, Christ’s second coming is not filled with dread, but rather is one for celebration because we know there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1). However, there may be things that you are currently facing that seem to rob you of joy. Perhaps it’s the list of things that need to still get done this holiday season, or maybe you’re in the middle of some major life-transition that has greatly burdened you. As you prepare your heart and mind for worship this morning, pray that the Holy Spirit would strengthen your faith in Christ as the only true source of never-ending, full, and complete joy.
