Welcome to Physical Education!
Our P.E classes are designed to introduce or advance students' knowledge of healthy, fitness training, and sport. We practice Christian behavior and teach good sportsmanship to our students. Our program is designed to teach age-appropriate skills and encourage lifelong health.
For our younger students, we introduce catching and tossing, kicking skills, parachute games, hula hoops, jump ropes, and more! As our students move up in grade, we build on the skills they have already learned and introduce specific team sports. These include basketball, volleyball, kickball, lacrosse, soccer, football, and running. It is important to introduce and emphasize the benefits of team sports to our students. They learn to work together for a common goal and recognize good sportsmanship. We also include health and fitness training to encourage students to focus on making healthy choices for life. Students in all grades participate in warm-up exercises and running in every P.E class. In addition, grades 4-6 run a timed mile multiple times per month. This is an opportunity for students to individually improve their fitness and health.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade receive 60 minutes of physical education instruction each wee. Our P.E teacher provides 30 minutes of this instruction and the homeroom teacher provides the additional 30 minutes. Students in grades fourth through sixth receive 75 minutes of physical education per week. Our P.E teacher provides 45 minutes and the additional 30 minutes are provided by the homeroom teacher.
