Teacher - Mr. Alex Waggoner
Psalm 100 commands us to “Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord, all the Earth!”. Music is an essential part of worship and is an important part of a child’s education. Music classes are offered for all grades K-6. Every grade has its own curriculum for music.
Kindergarten, First and Second graders will learn an appreciation for musical styles and genres through singing, percussion instruments, and motions.
Third graders will learn some music theory and how to perform both hymn tunes and music in the style of Indonesian Gamelan on Orff Marimbas.
Fourth graders will learn to play the recorder while continuing their instruction in music theory. They will be able to play in parts, a round, and with singers.
Fifth graders will learn to play hand chimes. They will learn how to read a grand staff and how to perform with an ensemble.
Sixth graders will learn how to perform in a handbell choir and advanced performance techniques.
