Happy and Blessed Easter!  Although we face these difficult days, it shall not temper our joy. An ancient Easter Prayer of the church states: “God of glory, by the raising of Your Son You have broken the chains of death and hell: fill Your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Savior Jesus Christ.”

Yes, we are gathering online to celebrate, but even in the midst of this deadly pandemic, we have great courage.  Because Jesus is risen from the dead, our faith stands secure.  Because He lives, we live also!

ORGAN PRELUDE                 Easter Hymn                                     Healey Willan

P:  In the Name of the Father, and the +Son, and the Holy Spirit.

P: Because we have gathered together on this festival Day of Resurrection, it is good for us to repent of our sin and ask our Living God to grant us the grace won for us through the cross and empty tomb. Therefore, humble your hearts now to approach the lord in sincerity in truth. Gracious Heavenly Father,

C: Forgive us for doubting the greatness of your awesome power. Forgive us for not believing you an resurrect our broken lives of sin and make us a new creation. We confess our waywardness as your children and seek your mercy. Help us not to cling to passionately to this earthly life, that we fear our deaths. When we are overcome by defeat, grant us new hope. When we stumble and fall, put our feet upon the rock of Christ and guide us by your Spirit. In the name of Jesus who died for our sins on Good Friday and Rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, we ask for your forgiveness, amen.

(silence is observed for personal confession)

P:   Almighty God in his mercy gave his beloved Son to die for us. That sacrifice restored to us a right relationship with God once more. Because of Calvary, we receive the forgiveness of our sins. In the name of the Father and the +Son and the Holy Spirit, your sins are forgiven!
C: Amen

P: Christ is Risen!
C: He is Risen indeed! Alleluia!

HYMN OF PRAISE I Know That My Redeemer Lives                LSB #461

1 I know that my Redeemer lives!
What joy this blest assurance gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead;
he lives, my ever-living head!

2 He lives triumphant from the grave;
he lives eternally to save;
he lives exalted, throned above;
he lives to rule his church in love.

3 He lives to grant me rich supply;
He lives to guide me with the His eye;
He lives to comfort me when faint;
He lives to hear my soul’s complaint.

4 He lives to silence all my fears;
he lives to wipe away my tears;
he lives to calm my troubled heart;
he lives all blessings to impart.

5 He lives to bless me with his love;
he lives to plead for me above;
he lives my hungry soul to feed;
he lives to help in time of need.

6 He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly friend;
he lives and loves me to the end;
he lives, and while he lives, I’ll sing;
he lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King!

7 He lives and grants me daily breath;
he lives, and I shall conquer death;
he lives my mansion to prepare;
he lives to bring me safely there.

8 He lives, all glory to his name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same;
what joy this blest assurance gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!

(Greeting and Brief Prayer)
A:  Let us pray:  Almighty God the Father, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.

SONG OF PRAISE                God of the Living                        Kip Fox

God of the living
Give us this day,
A new beginning Covered in grace
Fill us with kindness
Patience and love
Always remind us
What you have done

You have raised us up from death to life
By your Son our Savior, Jesus Christ
Sending him to save
Vanquishing the grave
Worthy is your name
God of the Living

God of the living
Teach us your ways
So we can walk in
The paths you have made
Give us the courage
When we’re afraid
Give us endurance
When comforts fade

Every day a new creation
Every morning a new day

CONFESSION OF FAITH               Second Article and Meaning        Luther’s Small Catechism

P: What do we mean when we proclaim, “I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord”?
C: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity,
and also true man, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord.
Who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil;
Not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death;
That I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom, and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness;
Just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.
This is most certainly true!

C:     Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever.  Amen.

BENEDICTION (blessing)
P:     Alleluia!  Alleluia! Christ has destroyed death.  Alleluia! He has brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel! Alleluia!

CLOSING HYMN                Now All the Vault of Heaven Resounds                           LSB 465
1 Now all the vault of Heav’n resounds
In praise of love that still abounds,
Christ has triumphed! He is Living!
Sing, choirs of angels, loud and clear,
Repeat their song of glory here:
Christ has triumphed! Christ has triumphed!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

2 Eternal is the gift He brings,
Therefore, our heart with rapture sings:
Christ has triumphed! He is living!
Now still He comes to give us life,
And by His presence stills all strife
Christ has triumphed! He is living!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

3 O fill us, Lord, with dauntless love;
Set heart and will on things above
That we conquer through Your triumph,
Grant grace sufficient for life’s day
That by our lives we truly say:
Christ has triumphed! He is living!
Christ has triumphed! He is living!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

4 Adoring praises now we bring
And with the heavenly blessèd sing:
Christ has triumphed, Alleluia!
Be to the Father, and our Lord,
To Spirit blest, most holy God,
All the glory, never ending!
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! Amen!
